Well, great, you’ve reached the big question: when will you say “I do?” 💍 Maybe you’ve long had the image of the perfect summer evening in your head: a gentle breeze, warm air, starry sky… Familiar, right? Most brides (and grooms!) instinctively aim for the period from June to August, hoping for immaculate weather and that guests will be available. And, let’s face it, the magic of “peak season” is strong too! ✨
This summer dream seems perfect at first, but before you get completely lost in the whirlwind of organization and book what you think is the most beautiful date, there are a few things you should consider. Because the struggle of the months is not just about prices, but also about the atmosphere, stress, and compromises!
The romantic image of a summer wedding is truly tempting, but in reality, the high season presents serious challenges due to availability, prices, and even heatwaves. It’s worth considering other months if you desire a unique atmosphere, better conditions, or simply your preferred vendors – for the perfect party and stress-free planning!
Warm summer evenings are truly magical, who wouldn’t love riverside wine-tasting or barbecue parties under the starry sky? We, wedding DJs, also experience that summer dates practically evaporate from our calendars; sometimes, they are booked a year and a half to two years in advance! 🤯 But why is this? Partly due to classic misconceptions, and partly because a real “wedding boom” started after the pandemic. Many postponed, and this extra demand means that summer weekends fill up faster, and prices also steadily climb. Inflation, date hunting, limited capacity – a real cocktail in peak season! 🍹
Of course, if the wedding date is tied to a personal, heartfelt anniversary – say, the day you first met, or the day of your engagement – then all other considerations take a back seat. 💖 In such cases, there’s no debate, you must keep the big day, whenever it may be!
But if you are flexible, it is worth looking at the “wedding calendar” with a slightly different eye. Let’s see what the months hide, based on our DJ experiences!
January – February: Where the off-season is actually peak season! ❄️
We call these two months the “classic off-season” – but for us wedding DJs and service providers, this is actually the real planning high season! This is when requests for proposals and personal meetings pick up, and this is when we can dedicate the most time to you. The best news? During this period, most service providers (yes, us too! 😉) offer discounts, and it will be much easier to book your dream venue or chosen DJ! This can save you a lot of money, which can even make your honeymoon sweeter! 💰🌴
And I wouldn’t let you have illusions about the winter idyll: for a snowy landscape, you have to travel to extreme places (Bakony, Mátra, Eplény region), otherwise, only the cold and early darkness will remind you of winter in an average urban location. But a cozy, candlelit, indoor ceremony can still be fabulous!
March – April: The spring awakening, or the “I wouldn’t have thought so” category! 🌷
These months used to be considered “ugly ducklings,” but fortunately, the trend is changing! In recent years, there have been more and more March and April weddings, and we love it! 😍 Although the pandemic slightly disrupted plans, spring dates are now experiencing a renaissance. Similar to late September and October, we consider these two months among the best choices.
The weather is pleasantly warm, the sun isn’t scorching yet, but you can already go outside! And the awakening of nature provides a wonderful backdrop for your photos. In short: spring is the time for fresh starts and fresh parties! 🥳
Pro tip: Coordinate with the photographer and videographer beforehand! We’ll tell you when and where the show will be, so they can prepare for stunning shots. Slow-motion shots with fireworks are especially impactful! 🎬
May to end of September: The漩涡 of heat and the trap of date hunting! 🔥
This is the “Hollywood” of weddings, the classic high season! But not all that glitters is gold. 💫 It’s important to know that there are even more popular “star” dates within this period: the last two or three weekends of May and August, and the first two or three weekends of June and September. Imagine, your phone would run out of battery before you could find a free DJ for those! 🔋
The biggest headache here can be that dream providers and the coolest venues are already booked years (!) in advance. You might only be able to choose from the “leftovers,” which can force you into tough compromises. Furthermore, we DJs also work with peak season surcharges during this period. Due to the pandemic, it even happened that there was huge demand for Friday, and even Sunday, Monday dates! So get ready, this is a real Survivor game! 🏝️
And the most pressing disadvantage: the heatwave! Can you imagine “suffering through” the civil ceremony in the scorching sun, your makeup running by the time the photographer clicks, or the venue’s air conditioning giving up in the heat? 🥵 Not a very romantic sight… And instead of the dance floor, guests will be busting out their “water party” moves by the cool pool to Despacito, or even Hot in Herre!
Who are we? The Wedding DJ team works with over 1000 corporate party and wedding experiences. Our goal: uncompromising quality, professional attitude, and sound and lighting technology that is outstanding in terms of visuals and sound. In addition, we enhance the party experience with our extra services.
October – November: The autumn gold rush, or the “secret favorite”! 🍂
This period is like March-April, only even more beautiful! In recent years, October has clearly risen to become one of the best choices. During the day, the weather is pleasant, often late summer, perfect for an outdoor ceremony. In the evening, you don’t have to endure extreme heat, a light cardigan is enough. Imagine those beautiful, golden-brown, autumn photos! 📸 As if you stepped out of a postcard! And you can also spice up the decoration with the characteristics of the season, pumpkins, chestnuts, autumn leaves – a truly rustic, cozy atmosphere! 🧡 On the Secret Stories page, you can find even more ideas about the beauty of autumn weddings.
December: Christmas miracle or New Year’s Eve DJ madness? 🎄
